What Is The Difference Between Lasagna And Ziti?

There are many people who have fallen in love with baked, grilled, cheesy dishes that are filled with delicious pasta. They seem to be a great choice at just about any time of day. Two of the most popular examples are baked ziti and baked lasagna; however, how can people tell the difference between the two? Are they the same? Even though they do pack many of the same flavors, including creamy, savory, and spicy flavors, they are different. Learn more about a few of the biggest differences below.

What Is Baked Lasagna?

First, let’s take a look at lasagna. This is an ancient type of pasta that is usually made using flat sheets. There are no lumpy layers, but they do sometimes have ribbons on the side. While these are mostly cosmetic, they also help the pasta hang onto the sauce that is served with the pasta noodles. Then, the lasagna is turned into a baked casserole that has several layers to it. It usually starts with a layer of pasta on the bottom. Then, sauce, cheese, and fillings are placed on top of the pasta. Once everything is baked in the oven, it is served using a spatula.

What Is Baked Ziti?

Another popular type of pasta is ziti. Ziti has a slightly different shape when compared to other types of pasta. The noodles are shaped like curves and have ridges on the sides, which makes it easier for the pasta to latch onto the sauce. This is the biggest difference between ziti and lasagna. Instead of being layered, ziti noodles are usually mixed together with a bunch of cheese, sauce, and other fillings. There are lots of interesting ingredients included in ziti that give people the opportunity to put their own personal twist on this popular Italian pasta dish. The result is a delicious mix of cheesy pasta.

Which One Is Better?

In the end, one dish is not necessarily better than the others. It depends on how they are made, the ingredients used, and the individual preferences of those who are going to be enjoying the dish. Anyone who is curious about the best ziti and lasagna should stop by and indulge themselves with one of our amazing pasta dishes.
