What Defines Italian Risotto?

When you take a look at an Italian menu, you will see plenty of choices. When it comes time to choose a carbohydrate, you may be tempted to go with risotto. But, what is risotto and when should you select this to go with your entree?

Risotto Is Creamy Italian Rice

Risotto has its roots in Northern Italy, but it has since spread all over the country and the world. This is a classic rice dish that has been cooked and stirred with different types of broth, depending on the meal you have chosen. As you continue to cook the rice in the broth, it will eventually reach a creamy consistency, and that is when it is called a risotto.

One of the reasons why risotto is so popular is that it is incredibly flexible. If you want to keep things simple, you can simply top the risotto with some butter. Or, if you are looking for some complex flavors, you might want to go with some onions, wine, and Parmesan cheese. The options are endless if you decide to go with risotto!

What Do You Serve With Risotto?

You have plenty of options if you want to go with risotto. Many people enjoy ordering risotto as an appetizer because it pairs well with a variety of Italian soups and salads. You can also serve it next to some grilled vegetables.

Or, if risotto is a side for an entree, you will commonly see it paired with seafood. For example, you may want to serve risotto next to some salmon. Or, if you have ever taken a trip to the Lake Como region, you have probably seen risotto served with some perch filet.

Why Not Give Italian Risotto a Try Today?

You may have had risotto before, but you have not actually tried it until you have had authentic Italian risotto! It has to be cooked properly for you to get the most out of it, and we would love to show you exactly what that tastes like. Come and visit today, and try some authentic Italian risotto!

The Best Food To Try in Italy

During your visit to Italy, you probably want to try as much delicious food as you can. Italy is closely associated with a variety of foods, ranging from pasta to pizza and from cheese to dessert. Therefore, make sure you show up hungry! What are a few of the most popular traditional foods in Italy you should try?

Pizza

Without a doubt, any trip to Italy has to start with pizza. Delicious pizza can be found all over the country, but you will probably find the best pizza in Naples. If you have a Neapolitan pizza, it means that it is based on the style in Naples. Neapolitan pizza is typically made with a thin, flatbread-style crust, tomato sauce, whole basil leaves, and buffalo mozzarella. It is not that complicated, but it is absolutely delicious.

Balsamic Di Modena

During your visit to Bologna, you will probably see Balsamic Di Modena. It is one of the most popular regional foods in the country, and you should not miss out on it. This is where some of the best balsamic comes from, and there are strict requirements that the dishes need to adhere to. It will be silky, sweet, and smooth! Consider drizzling it on top of a plate of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese!

Risotto

Risotto is another very famous Italian food that you can find all over the country, but you will probably find the best risotto either around Lake Como or in Calabria. This is a dish that was developed in Italy. It is a creamy rice dish made from short-grain arborio rice. Then, it is cooked in vegetable, beef, or chicken broth. Once it is thick, it is talked with Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese before being filled with seafood, mushrooms, and a variety of herbs.

Tortellini

Pasta is something that is inextricably associated with Italy, and one of the most popular types of pasta is tortellini. It is typically stuffed with cheese and meat before being served alongside a variety of other foods. Every region in Italy is going to have its own twist on tortellini, so don’t hesitate to branch out and try a few options! Make sure you don’t overlook any of these foods during your trip to Italy.
